AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine’s most popular campground park — Sebago Lake State Park — will open this weekend for camping and day use.

State park officials said they had hoped to have the southern Maine park cleaned up from Tropical Storm Irene in time to reopen it for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Park officials determined late Wednesday that sufficient progress has been made to warrant a staggered opening for the weekend. Naples area campground will open Friday and the Casco day-use area will open Saturday morning.

Officials say other parks shut down because of storm cleanup, Eagle Island State Historic Site and Warren Island State Park, are now reopened. Both are located on Maine islands.
