PORTLAND, Maine — Police have charged two people with selling crack cocaine and heroin in Portland.

Officers arrested Carl Langston of South Portland and Carol Vining of Cumberland, both 22, Wednesday evening in the parking lot of a restaurant on Congress Street. Police seized a half-ounce of crack, 61 bags of heroin, $1,600 in cash and a small amount of marijuana.

Police also found a loaded .40-caliber handgun in the glove box of the couple’s car.

Langston, a convicted felon, is currently out on bail on a domestic violence charge.

“We were aware that he was on bail, and part of his bail is that he is subject to search, so we searched him,” Maine Drug Enforcement Agency supervisor Kevin Cashman told the Bangor Daily News. “We’re familiar with him.”

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency was assisted by the Westbrook Police Department.

The couple will make their first court appearance on Friday.
