BELFAST, Maine — A late-night intruder was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly tried to break into a Belfast woman’s home. The woman did not know him.

According to Belfast police, Lucas A. Murdock, 33, of Unity, was intoxicated early Saturday morning when he tried to enter a Charles Street home.

At 3:49 a.m., Murdock reportedly broke a window and woke a woman inside, who called police reporting that a man was trying to get in her house.

Reporting officers found Murdock and asked him if he lived in the home.

“He told the officers only on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” said Detective Sergeant Bryan Cunningham.

The homeowner told police she did not know Murdock, and did not want him on her property.

He was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

He was taken to Waldo County Jail, where he stayed for the weekend, Cunningham said. He has since been released on bail.
