Island Falls teen breaks leg in dirt bike crash

Updated:

ISLAND FALLS, Maine — A 17-year-old local boy was thrown from his dirt bike and broke his leg Tuesday morning after he failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a truck, Maine State Police Sgt. Brian Harris said Wednesday.

Scott Conley was driving a 1982 Honda dirt bike on Old Patten Road around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with Route 159 and struck a 2008 GMC driven by Heidi Bishop, 45, also of Island Falls, the sergeant said.

“Conley was thrown from his dirt bike” and suffered a broken leg in the crash, Harris said, adding that Conley was wearing a helmet.

Detective Josh Haines went to the scene for state police.

Island Falls Ambulance took the teenager to Houlton Regional Hospital. Bishop, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured, Harris said.
