DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — Tractor Supply Co. made it official this week that it plans to open a store in the Dover-Foxcroft shopping plaza.

Rob Hoskins, the company’s spokesman, confirmed Tuesday that the new store is expected to open in mid-November. About 12-17 full- and part-time jobs will be created with the store opening, he said.

“Tractor Supply Co. is looking forward to being a member of the Dover-Foxcroft business community,” Hoskins said. “As a growth-minded company, Tractor Supply Co. is always looking for potential new store locations that are a good fit as far as the target market is concerned.”

Dover-Foxcroft was attractive because of the numbers of part-time and hobby farmers, and horse owners in the area, he said.

The company’s product category expertise includes lawn and garden, and animal care products that service the needs of these customers, he said.

Bob Bahre, who owns the shopping plaza, said Tuesday the company signed a long-term lease last week for 21,000 square-feet of the building that previously housed the IGA and a pharmacy.

Bahre said he expects that a lease will be signed in a few weeks by another company for space in the plaza, but he declined to reveal the name. That will leave only one remaining store vacant in the plaza, he said.
