• Sept. 8: Dr. Ira Mandel will present “Communities Taking Care of Elders, ” 6:30 p.m. Regardless of nursing home availability, most elders would much rather remain in their own homes than be institutionalized. As the baby boomer generation ages, the lack of long-term care services will reach a crisis — new ideas and new ways of thinking are urgently needed. • Sept. 11: Free movie series, “Beneath the World Drama, There Is Peace.” Six days after the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, author and teacher Eckhart Tolle gave a retreat attended by 350 people at the Omega Institute. In the talks filmed at the event, Eckhart Tolle speaks to those critical events. A decade later, these talks are deeply relevant, powerful and timeless. Resonance Arts and the Camden Public Library will present the series of three films of Eckhart Tolle’s talks at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 18, and 25.
• Sept. 15: “Basic knowledge of mushrooms and how to cook them,” with Travis Benner, 6:30 p.m. Hosted by the Midcoast Audubon Society.
