UNION — Bartlett Estate Winery’s Blueberry Oak Dry, and Savage Oakes’ Blueberry Pi won the third annual Blueberry Wine Competition, held at the Badger Cafe and Pub in Union, owned and operated by chef Michael and Christy Greer. Six Maine wineries entered 13 different wines
in the competition.
The judges had to choose one champion in each class — a dessert wine and a table red. The 100 percent wild Maine blueberry wines ranged in style from dry to sweet.
Competition judges were Sarah Greer, local food and wine entrepreneur; Keri Lupien former wine consultant for Pine State Trading Co.; and Michael Greer. They chose Bartlett Estate Winery Blueberry Oak Dry for the table red. The winery is located in Gouldsboro Savage Oakes Blueberry Pi stood out in the dessert category.
