Listeners will remain loyal to WZON sports show

Rich Kimball, in discussing is his new sports talk show (BDN, Aug. 27), said it would be like the old Tony Kornheiser show. I want to sing like Roy Orbison too, but it ain’t gonna happen. This new show is a thinly disguised attempt to compete directly with the WZON sports show. Dale Duff and Clem Labree put out a fun and entertaining product that reaches a large cross-section of Eastern Maine sports fans.

Their show blends perfectly with the progressive programming that has been so badly needed in this area. I am confident that most people will remain loyal to the original sports talk show of Eastern Maine-WZON the Pulse.

A tip of the hat to SLWS crew

Another fabulous SLWS has come to an end, but not forgotten. After 10 years in Bangor, the excitement of the games continues to shine.

We should not forget the fans and the people in general of this area. A parent from Hilo, Hawaii, told me “You folks in Maine are the greatest!” He told me about the verbal abuse directed toward their team by some of the opposing players and fans in the California playoffs. We should take pride in the good will we have generated with teams from around the U.S. and world.

A tip of the hat to the crew that manages this event and takes care of the field. One suggestion: How about posting the event on the sign on Union Street — it might help bring in a few more fans, especially visitors to the area.

Long live the SLWS in Bangor!
