Fort Kent boys soccer team rallies past Caribou

CARIBOU — Abe Desjardins directed a low cross from Brandon Hartt past Caribou goalkeeper Matt Manter with 1:33 remaining in regulation to give Fort Kent a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Caribou high school boys soccer action Monday night..

Desjardins raced into the penalty area and converted Hartt’s cross from just six yards out to even Fort Kent’s record at 2-2.

R.J. Belanger had scored the equalizer for the Warriors 10 minutes earlier with Hartt also assisting.

Chad Caverhill’s first-half goal, off a Sean Barbosa assist, staked 0-2 Caribou to a 1-0 lead but Desjardins drew Fort Kent level off an Antonia Naranja assist later in the half.

Dean Walker’s 22-yard shot gave Caribou its second one-goal lead midway through the second half.

Cody Plourde made five saves on 17 shots for the Warriors while Manter finished with five saves on 10 shots.

Hodgdon/GHCA 1, SAHS 0

At Dyer Brook, Devon Quint scored just before the midway point of the second half to lift Hodgdon/Greater Houlton Christian over Southern Aroostook.

Quint scored off a throw-in after the ball bounced between two defenders, and he trapped it, went by the defenders and tapped the ball in underneath the goalie.

Erik Ryan had 18 saves on 24 shots for the 2-0 winners while Jessie Boulier and Will McGary saved two of there shots for the 0-1-1 Warriors.

Girls soccer

So. Aroostook 11, Hodgdon 0

At Dyer Brook, Jillian Diaferio had four goals and two assists and Olivia Raymond two goals and one assist to lead Southern Aroostook to the win.

Kaitlyn Sommers, Desirae Dubois, Elizabeth Bishop, Taylor Desmond and Katie Prescott added a goal each for the 1-0-1 Warriors. Mallary Lawlor saved all three shots.

Kim Levesque saved 16 of 27 shots for 0-2 Hodgdon.

Easton 5, Limestone 2

At Limestone Saturday, Carla Halvorson scored three goals and notched one assist to propel the Bears past the Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Cassandra Buck chipped in with two goals and an assist for the 3-2 winners and Haley Ambrose made nine saves on 23 shots.

Kennedi Smith scored a goal and notched an assist for 1-3 Limestone and Jade McConnell added a goal. Mariah Williams recorded an assist and Karen Page made 12 saves on 23 shots.
