PALMYRA, Maine — A truck driver from Maxfield was uninjured after his right front tire blew out and he crashed into a ditch on Interstate 95 on Monday afternoon.

John Glidden, 36, was driving in the southbound lane when the tire of his 10-wheeled log crane-loader blew. His truck veered into the soft ground and went over the embankment, where it overturned, said Maine State Police Trooper Hugh Landry.

No other vehicles were involved in crash, which happened near mile marker 154.

Glidden was treated for bumps and bruises at the scene.

“He was lucky,” said Landry.

The truck originally was reported to be on fire.

“When I got there there was no fire, just a little bit of smoke,” said Landry.

I-95 wasn’t closed for the crash, but traffic may be reduced to one lane in order to remove the truck from the ditch.

BDN photographer Kevin Bennett contributed to this report.
