BANGOR, Maine — An employee at the Circle K convenience store on Main Street was charged with felony theft after a store manager reported the crime on Friday, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

“It was over $1,000 in transactions, the manager said,” Edwards said Monday.

Store clerk Keri Murphy, 26, of Bangor was arrested around 4 p.m. Friday and charged with felony theft as well as violating her bail conditions and for an outstanding warrant, Edwards said.

If convicted of the felony, Murphy could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

Murphy, who lived in Millinocket last year, was convicted of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer in December 2010 and sentenced 10 days in jail, according to prior court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News.
