Fort Kent girls soccer team notches first victory of season

HOULTON — Erin Chasse scored off a corner kick with 7:13 remaining to give the Fort Kent Warriors their first win of the season, a 1-0 verdict over the Houlton Shiretowners in girls high school soccer action Friday night.

Michela Desjardins picked up the assist.

Chasse’s goal came when she deflected in a ball that was bouncing in front of the Houlton net.

Alexa Pelletier made seven saves on 12 shots for Fort Kent (1-2), and Marina Cameron made seven saves on 17 shots for the Shiretowners (0-1-1).

Cen. Aroostook 4, Wisdom 0

At St. Agatha, Sarah Grass collected two goals as the Panthers of Mars Hill beat Wisdom.

Brianna York and Victoria McIntyre added goals for the winners. McIntyre saved all nine shots.

Taylor Hobbs stopped 15 of 20 shots for Wisdom.

Washburn 6, Ashland 2

At Washburn, Mackenzie Worcester had three goals and one assist and Carsyn Koch a goal plus an assist to lead the Beavers to the win.

Kristy Sperry and Kelsey Churchill added goals for Washburn. Rayah Saucier saved three of seven shots.

Anna Paradis and Kayla Cote scored for Ashland. Macie Bellanceau stopped 15 of 34 shots.

Boys soccer

Houlton 2, Fort Kent 1

At Houlton, Nick Guiod scored one goal and assisted on another by Jimmy Fitzpatrick as the Shiretowners edged Fort Kent.

Cole Buzzeo saved 10 of 11 shots for the 1-1 Shiretowners.

Abraham Desjardins scored for 0-2 Fort Kent. Colby Plourde had seven saves on 12 shots.

Madawaska 4, Caribou 0

At Madawaska, Dylan Wetmore, Sam Cyr and Jake Gendreau each registered a goal and an assist to propel the Owls to victory over the Vikings.

Ian Lee scored the other goal for 3-0 Madawaska, which led 2-0 at halftime. Kyle Blanchette made four saves on four shots.

Matt Manter made five saves on nine shots for 0-1 Caribou.
