NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine — A local man is dead after his motorcycle struck the side of a tractor-trailer truck on Route 2 on Wednesday afternoon.

David Beach, 43, was heading westbound on Route 2 when his bike hit an international trailer unit driven by Maurice Ramsdell, 50, of Dexter.

Beach, who was not wearing a helmet, was trying to pass the truck on the left when Ramsdell was preparing to turn into a parking lot. Beach was ejected from his bike.

WABI reports Beach was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Ramsdell was not injured in the accident, which remains under investigation.
