BREWER, Maine — Police got a call that two people were out behind a Wilson Street fast food restaurant smoking marijuana Tuesday morning and later charged the two with multiple drug offenses, Capt. Jason Moffitt said Wednesday.

Cpl. Steve Boyd and Officer Mike Wilson arrived at the restaurant around 6:25 a.m. and reported the odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle, the police captain said.

Heather Hamm, 27, and Timothy Hamm, 32, were reportedly in the vehicle. Police found 27 hypodermic syringes, three types of diverted prescription drugs — amitriptyline, an anti-depressant, and two anxiety medications, Clonidine and hydroxyzine — and drug paraphernalia, Moffitt said.

The two were charged with possession of 11 or more hypodermic needles and the sale and use of drug paraphernalia. Heather Hamm also was charged with possession of scheduled drugs.

Whether the Hamms are related was not listed in the police report, Moffittt said.
