Presque Isle boys soccer team rolls by Fort Kent in opener

PRESQUE ISLE — Isaac LaJoie and Jake Player each scored twice as the Presque Isle Wildcats opened their schoolboy soccer season with a 5-0 victory over the Fort Kent Warriors Tuesday night.

Ben Sipe added a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, while Wilder York, Sam Clukey and Ryly Norton contributed an assist apiece.

Andrew Kofstad earned the shutout in goal, making 10 saves on 15 Fort Kent shots.

Cody Plourde made 20 saves on 27 shots for 1-1 Fort Kent.

Hodgdon 6, Limestone/MSSM 0

At Hodgdon, freshman Devon Quint scored three goals in his varsity debut and classmate Chris Hudson added two goals as the Hawks opened their season with a victory.

Drew Gough contributed a goal and an assist to the victory, while goalie Eric Ryan preserved the shutout with 12 saves on 25 shots.

Dylan Nadeau made six saves on 19 shots for Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Easton 2, Ashland 1

At Easton, Holden Turner scored two first-half goals seven minutes apart to send the Bears on the way to victory.

Turner scored one unassisted goal and also converted a penalty kick. Cody Tompkins made seven saves on 13 shots. for 2-1 Easton.

Royce MacDonald scored an unassisted first-half goal for 0-2 Ashland. Jamie Dozier made eight saves on 17 shots.

Girls soccer

Easton 4, Ashland 3

At Easton, Stephanie Hammond scored on an assist from Meghan Frank with four minutes left in the second half snap a 3-3 tie and lift the Bears to victory.

Carla Halvorson and Sam Buck each contributed a goal and an assist for 2-1 Easton, while Mariah Cyr also scored for the winners.

Kayla Cote scored twice for 1-1 Ashland, while Rachel Gillis added a goal and Brooke LaBelle had an assist.

Easton goalie Haley Ambrose made eight saves on 13 shots, while Macie Bellanceau made 14 saves on 23 shots for Ashland.

Limestone 7, Hodgdon 0

At Hodgdon, Amanda Allen scored three goals as Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics scored its first win of the season.

Kennadi Smith added two goals for the 1-2 Eagles, while Stephanie Leighton had a goal and an assist and Danielle Pelkey scored a goal. Mariah Williams and Ellyzabeth Bencivenga also contributed assists for Limestone.

Karen Page made eight saves on 10 shots in goal for Limestone. Kimberly Levesque made 27 saves on 53 shots for 0-1 Hodgdon.
