HERMON, Maine — A construction project planned for Wing and Annis roads is ready to move forward as the result of a special town meeting last week.

The project will involve ditching and repaving 3.3 miles of roadway from the Levant town line to Route 2. The work will cost an estimated $780,000, according to a news release issued by town officials. The town and MaineDOT are splitting the cost evenly.

Hermon residents authorized most of their share of the project cost during their town meeting in June. They approved an additional $108,000 during a special town meeting last Thursday night.

Through a competitive bid process, R A Paradis & Sons was chosen to complete the ditching portion of the project, which will involve 12,015 feet of ditching at an estimated cost of $66,000.

Pike Industries was chosen to complete the road resurfacing, which will involve reclaiming existing pavement, grading and laying down base and surface coats of pavement. Pike Industries submitted a $719,000 bid to complete the paving work.
