Bangor woman arrested on warrants from 1979

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Warrants apparently have no expiration date, a local woman learned last week when she was arrested on a pair of warrants dating back to 1979.

At the time of her arrest on Aug. 15 by Trooper Seth Edwards, Lorna Jean Richards, 53, was wanted on 32-year-old warrants for failure to appear and violation of probation, according to Maine State Police.

A jail official confirmed Monday that the warrants dated back to 1979. He said Richards since has been released on bail.

It was not immediately clear how Richards came to the trooper’s attention last week. Edwards could not be reached on Monday.
