Alleged copper and metal thief nabbed in Corinna

CORINNA, Maine — A Dexter man was arrested in connection with the theft of metal from several homes in the Dexter and Corinna area.

Shawn Braley, 30, was arrested Aug. 16 on Route 7 in Corinna and charged with burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to Trooper Matt Grant of the Maine State Police.

Police allege that Braley was connected to several burglaries in which copper and other metals were taken. Some of the items that had been sold have been recovered, he said.

Braley is expected to make his initial court appearance on Oct. 14 in Newport District Court.

Few other details were available since the matter is still under investigation. Assisting Grant on the case is Maine State Police Trooper Jared Stedman and the Dexter Police Department.
