GUILFORD, Maine — More than 100 golfers raised in excess of $7,000 for the Jimmy Fund during the Bobbie Jo’s Friends Playing For Her Only Wishes Golf Tournament on Aug. 13 at the Piscataquis Valley Golf Club.

The event is held annually in memory of the late Bobbie Jo Hall, who died of cancer at the age of 51 in April 2009. Hall was an avid golfer. With this year’s contribution, the event has raised more than $25,000 in four years for cancer research.

Tim Richardson of Sangerville, who heads up the event, said this year’s tournament had the largest participation and teams came from as far away as Saco and Jonesport. An auction also was held during the day.

“I am just so thankful for the support from the local businesses and the golfers,” Richardson said this week. “Just proves that if we all find a way to give a little, we can make a big difference.”

The men’s team that won was Greg Jordan, Grad Jordan, Allan Emerson and Jack Bragg. The winning ladies team was Nancy Hall, Sue Jardine, Ginny Robinson and Lisa Richardson.
