PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will offer a free
five-week workshop 5:30-8 p.m. Mondays, Aug. 29 through Oct.3, in Reed Commons at Northern Maine Community College.
The workshop will help students gain skills and confidence to stretch their money, pay bills, reduce debt and set personal financial goals. The workshop is open to women, men and couples of all ages and income.

Rockhounders Gem and Mineral Show to be held Sept 3-4
AUGUSTA, Maine — The 22nd annual Rockhounders Gem and Mineral Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3-4, at the National Guard Armory, Western Avenue.
The event is sponsored by the Kennebec Rocks and Minerals Club. The event will include door prizes, demonstrations, dealers and games for children.

National Broadband Plan hosted in Portland
PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Telecommunications Relay Services Advisory Council will sponsor a forum on the National Broadband Plan from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday Aug. 26, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.
The forum will look at how the broadband plan affects individuals with disabilities, particularly those who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind. The forum will bring together consumers, telecommunications experts and government officials, including representatives of the Federal Communications Commission and the chairman of the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
The 12-member advisory council evaluates and contracts with telecommunications relay services providers in Maine. Consumers, representatives of the Public Utilities Commission, and telephone and cellular services are members of the council.
