Patagonia has long been known for its base layers; in fact, its Capilene product line is used by many outdoor enthusiasts to describe any old long underwear.

But in truth, Capilene is its own unique product. Cleverly named after the capillary action of its synthetic fibers, Capilene comes in several weights and styles to cover almost any outdoor adventurer.

One of Patagonia’s newest twists on Capilene is Capilene 1 Silkweight Stretch Tees. These pieces are by far the most flexible and active-fitting in the Capilene family. Its quick-wicking and quick-drying fabric make it ideal for high aerobic exercise and, because it gives the user sun protection of 50+ UPF, it can be used as a standalone piece.

The tees offer a slim fit with offset flat seams to reduce friction and Gladiodor Garment Odor Control to ward off the smell usually associated with synthetic active wear by managing the odor-causing bacteria.

Beyond being a technical garment, the Silkweight Stretch Tees feel buttery soft against your skin, a definite plus whether you’re working up a sweat or not. All-in-all, Patagonia has given us another great piece for hikers, runners and weekend warriors alike.
