ADRIENNE M. PARENT

LEWISBURG, Pa. and VAN BUREN – Adrienne M. Parent, 83, died Aug. 16, 2011, after a short illness. She was born Aug. 7, 1928, in St. Francis, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Evence and Ida (Cyr) Albert.

Adrienne was a graduate of Teacher’s College, Fredericton, N.B., Canada and the University of Maine at Orono. She passionately taught school for 32 years in New Brunswick and Van Buren and was especially fond of the years spent teaching French. Adrienne was a gentle, generous soul who touched many people’s hearts during her lifetime. Adrienne was active in Friends of the Library at AJ Morneault Library, Van Buren, the Van Buren Columbiettes, Daughters of Isabella and also at the parish level with Mercy Meals Committee. Her recent relocation to Lewisburg, Pa., allowed Adrienne to become involved with the Caring Community at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Lewisburg, Pa.

She is survived by a sister, Viola Nicholson of Tucson, Ariz.; two children, daughter, Lisa Folker and her husband, Joseph, of Lewisburg, Pa., son, Philip Parent and his wife, Denise, of Colchester, Conn.; six loving grandchildren, Christin and Melissa Folker and Matthew, Joshua, Keith and Ross Parent; and a special sister-in-law, Florine Sirois of West Hartford, Conn. Adrienne was predeceased by her loving husband, Reno Parent; infant daughter, Elizabeth; and three brothers, Hermile, Normand and Rino Albert.

In keeping with her wishes, a visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Shaw Funeral Home, 801 Market St., Lewisburg, Pa. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, 814 Saint Louis St., Lewisburg, Pa. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
