Bean-hole supper on tap at Conway Homestead in Camden


CAMDEN, Maine — A bean-hole supper will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, under the tent at the historical society’s Conway Homestead-Cramer Museum Complex, at the town line of Camden and Rockport. Admission price is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for children age 6-12. All are welcome.

Eastport Artwalk on Aug. 19

Walk to raise funds, awareness of Huntington’s disease

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Nancy Patterson, the Maine Affiliate chair of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, has announced the sixth annual TEAM HOPE Walk in the Pine Tree State beginning with registration at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Down East Sunrise Trail on the Washington Junction Road.

Huntington’s disease is a genetic disorder in which certain brain cells degenerate, taking away a person’s ability to walk, talk and think. Children of an affected parent have a 50-50 chance of inheriting the disease, for which there is no cure.

Trust meeting to include talk on freshwater fisheries

APPLETON, Maine — Members and friends of the Georges River Land Trust will gather 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, for the trust’s annual meeting and celebration at the Appleton Preserve.

A short business meeting will start at 2 p.m. and the membership will vote on the new slate of board members. After the business meeting, Dan Daly of the Georges River chapter of Trout Unlimited will speak about the freshwater fisheries of the St. George River, with emphasis on coldwater species such as brook and brown trout.

A picnic potluck will follow the talk and the land trust will provide drinks. Attendees are asked to bring food to share. For more information call 594-5166.
