Lee, Thibeault propel Owls past Panthers

MADAWASKA — Ian Lee and Aaron Thibeault each scored two goals Tuesday to lead Madawaska to a 4-2 boys soccer victory Central Aroostook in the first game of the season for both teams.

Dylan Wetmore recorded two assists and Sam Cyr and Jake Gendreau chipped in with one assist apiece. Kyle Blanchette stopped six of eight shots for the Owls.

Dan Brewer and Spencer Stetson scored Central Aroostook’s two goals and Brewer and Dylan Murray each had assists. Ross Grass made 23 saves on 25 shots for the Panthers of Mars Hill.

At Madawaska, four different players scored goals as Madawaska defeated Central Aroostook of Mars Hill in their mutual season opener.

Nicole Cyr, Meagan Ouellette, Shannon Blanchette, and Nathalie Cyr each netted goals helping the Owls earn their first win. Samantha Nadeau and Ouellette recorded assists for Madawaska. Amanda Nadeau made 12 saves on 22 shots.

Victoria McIntire scored Central Aroostook’s goal and Rachael Drew recorded the assist. Page Garrison made five stops on 16 shots for the Panthers.
