BANGOR, Maine — A local man called police early Tuesday morning to report a Hermon woman had stolen his prescription drugs and was getting away on foot, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

Christina Demmons, 28, “took off running down the street” with the 31-year-old male victim’s suboxone and Xanax at around 3:30 a.m., the sergeant said.

Police tracked and caught Demmons along Essex Street after a lengthy search, Edwards said. She was charged with theft, possession of scheduled drugs and for violating her bail conditions.

Demmons was taken to Penobscot County Jail and remained there late Tuesday morning, Edwards said.

Demmons, who was convicted when she was 18 of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and transporting liquor as a minor, has been convicted of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer four times in the last decade, according to prior court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News.
