FREEPORT, Maine — August is when hunters throughout New England begin preparing for the upcoming season by stocking up on gear, planning strategies and scoping out their spots. Those looking to prepare can take advantage of this year’s L.L.Bean Hunting Expo Aug. 26, 27 and 28. Whether you’re a veteran hunter or are just getting started, the L.L.Bean Hunting Expo is a great way to learn cutting-edge strategies, see the latest gear, take advantage of some great deals and much more. The Hunting Expo kicks-off on Friday with promotions, free indoor archery, demonstrations and clinics. Major highlights of the event include a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, and hunting celebrities Jon and Gina Brunson will be on-hand all day Saturday and Sunday, giving seminars and signing autographs. There also will be three days of competition featuring the famous DOCKDOGS as they run, jump, swim and retrieve while they race against the clock.

“Our 19th annual expo will be an excellent event for any hunter, regardless of their interests or skills,” Dan Tremble, manager of the L.L.Bean Hunting & Fishing Store, said in a recent news release. “Hunters of all ages will benefit from really valuable tips from some of the industry’s top experts like Hal Blood, Bob Humphrey, Mossy Oak Pro Staff and others. And we have some very special guests this year; we’re very honored to have Chandler Woodcock, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner and Maine Warden Service Colonel, Joel Wilkinson for a special question and answer session. Plus we’ll have vendors, demonstrations, hands-on activities and much, much more for the whole family. And best of all, it’s all free.”

L.L.Bean’s fly-casting, archery and clay shooting Walk-On Adventures also will be offered free all weekend, in addition to many other hands-on and interactive activities for the whole family. Special promotions include 20 percent off all hunting apparel and footwear. Special non-profit guests for the weekend include Ducks Unlimited, Mossy Oak, The Ruffed Grouse Society, Maine Bowhunters Association, Maine Professional Guides Association, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and others.
