BANGOR, Maine — A local man was arrested on charges of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and terrorizing Monday after he allegedly brandished a box cutter at other men who lives in his neighborhood.

Reginald McIntire, 46, was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained late Monday night, Bangor police Lt. Jeff Millard said. The criminal threatening charge is a Class C felony, Millard said.

The episode that led to McIntire’s arrest occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Sanford Street when McIntire reportedly went onto the porch of a nearby residence. After a man who lives there ordered him to leave, McIntyre threatened him with his box cutter, Millard said.

The neighbor responded by producing a handgun, according to a report submitted by a police officer who was sent to the area.

The two men then started shouting before discarding their weapons and brawling, the arrest report indicted. A third man who lives in the area then joined in, but why he did so was not clear in the report.

Millard said that the terrorizing charge was connected to reports that McIntire threatened to cut the other man’s neck and defecate down his throat.
