Hilary Duff (photo) is pregnant. The 23-year-old actress announced on her website Sunday that she and her hockey-player husband, Mike Comrie, are expecting their first child. She wrote that she and Comrie celebrated their first wedding anniversary over the weekend, and “We also want to share the exciting news that … BABY MAKES THREE!!!” Duff rose to fame as the star of the Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire” and recently appeared on “Gossip Girl.” Comrie most recently played hockey for the Pittsburgh Penguins. … Why do some people smirk when a movie star picks up a guitar? Maybe it’s because, as songwriter Harlan Howard once said, music is about “three chords and the truth” while an actor’s day job is about the closest you can come to lying for a living. The question brought a smile to the face of Jeff Bridges, the Oscar winner who this week will release his first major-label album, a 10-song collection called “Jeff Bridges.” “People like to put things in a box — and they do that with their own lives too, they limit things — but it’s all art to me,” Bridges, 61, said. “To me, all art is truth. … Music has been part of my life since I was a kid. Music meant more to me when I was young, but I went into acting because of family and because it was the path of least resistance.” Bridges inherited Hollywood opportunity from his movie-star father, Lloyd Bridges, but proved himself with an Academy Award nomination for his work in “The Last Picture Show,” a film that celebrates its 40th anniversary this October. The actor has been a persistent presence in Hollywood ever since, appearing recently in “True Grit,” “Tron: Legacy,” “Iron Man” and his Oscar win for “Crazy Heart.”
