YARMOUTH, Maine — A New York City man is behind bars after a two-week investigation by the Yarmouth Police Department and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, MDEA spokesman Kevin Cashman said Friday.

Jeremy S. Chappelle, 22, was arrested Thursday night and charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.

β€œHe was found to be in possession of a little over 7 ounces of crack,” said Cashman.

When police and drug agents went to a unit at the Juniper Ledge apartment complex, they seized three small plastic bags of cocaine with an estimated street value of $20,000.

Chappelle is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $100,000 cash bail, and his first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 15. printed on July 23, 2017
