DEXTER, Maine — The former primary and middle school property on Abbott Hill — which has a 1,200-foot frontage on Lake Wassookeag and is up for sale by the town — has received only limited interest from potential buyers.

The town accepted the deed to the property last year after SAD 46 opened a new elementary and middle school on the Fern Road. The Town Council placed it on the market in March and retained Town and Country Realtors of Bangor to handle the sale.

Town Manager Dave Pearson told the the Town Council at its meeting on Thursday that one offer was made about a month ago, and the town is following up on it. No information was provided to the council about the offer. Pearson said he also had received two unofficial inquiries.

Also on Thursday, the council learned that the public works department saved the town at least $100,000 by removing the old Poulin Road bridge and building its replacement. “The crew did a heck of a job,” Pearson said.

In other business, Ella Munday was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Hospital Administrative District 4 board.
