Bangor opens new launch site for small boats

By Andrew Neff, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — The city of Bangor has a new launch dock for small boats and paddle craft that is ready and available for public use.

The new river access launch is located at the southern end of the bulkhead just downstream from the large vessel dock behind the Sea Dog Brewing Co. restaurant. The location was chosen because of its proximity to parking and other Bangor Waterfront amenities.

Bangor Parks and Recreation Department Director Tracy Willette credited former City Engineer Jim Ring and the current city engineer Art Morgan with seeing the idea for a boat launch through and working with Maine Department of Environmental Protection officials to make it a reality.
