Photographer Dave Small went back to the fields behind the Old Town Airport to check on the immature bobolinks that he photographed a few weeks ago. He saw several males, and all were in almost complete adult plumage. He was also able to photograph a belted kingfisher and an orange striped moth that was on a clover blossom. Last week he and his sister and nephew took a ride to Waukeag where this adult American bald eagle was hanging out. Farther along while riding around Schoodic peninsula ANP, “we saw and photographed this great blue heron. I’ve been fortunate this spring and summer to see several herons, but this is the closest I’ve been able to get to one for quite a while. I love the detail and color,” Small said.
