BANGOR — The fourth annual Bangor Walk to defeat ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) begins with registration at 8 a.m., check-in at 9 a.m. and the walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Hayford Park, 13th St. To become involved or register as team or an individual, visit walktodefeatals.org and click on Bangor, Maine, or connect on Facebook at Bangor Walk to Defeat ALS. BELFAST — Habitat Lobster Gala, noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Steamboat Landing. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from any Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County board member, by calling the Habitat office at 338-2344 or by emailing contact@habitatofwaldocounty.org. Steak also is available. Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County.

CLIFTON — Harold “Red” Hodgins Memorial Golf Tournament, tee times at 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Sawmill Golf Course, Airline Road. Proceeds benefit the Clifton United Baptist Church roof fund.The entry fee is $200 for a four-person team. Hole sponsorships are $100 per hole. Coffee and doughnuts will be available in the morning and sandwiches for sale during the day plus a 50-50 raffle and prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, putting contest and winning team. FRIENDSHIP — Friendship Recreation Department chicken barbecue with hamburgers, hot dogs and corn prepared by Jonathan Murphy, 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. Admission is $10. GUILFORD — Valley Grange and Penquis Smart Starts for Students Italian buffet, 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Valley Grange, corner of Guilford Center Road and Butter Street. The meal is a salad bar and all-you-can-eat buffet for a suggested minimum donation of $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-12 and free for children under 5. ORLAND — Cancer Support Center of Maine of Bucksport third annual barbecue, 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Alamoosook Lakeside Inn, 229 Soper Road. Tickets are $25 and available at Frank’s Bake Shop, State Street in Bangor, and BookStacks and the CSC, both on Main Street, Bucksport. Proceeds benefit the CSC. For information call 469-6363.

ORLAND — H.O.M.E. Inc. annual auction beginning with a preview at 11 a.m. and the auction at noon, Saturday, Aug. 13, at H.O.M.E., Route 1. A children’s fair is 9 a.m.-noon that day. The auction includes a Boston Red Sox baseball signed by Jonathan Papelbon, an antique roll-top desk, gift certificates, tools, furniture, a truck with plow and other items. Proceeds benefits H.O.M.E.’s seven homeless shelters.

OWLS HEAD — Slide presentation by Penobscot Marine Museum photo archivist Kevin Johnson, 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Owls Head Community Building, 224 Ash Point Drive. Sponsored by the Mussel Ridge Historical Society, the talk features photographs that are 75-100 years old of communities from the museum’s Eastern Illustrating collection and photos from its Elmer Montgomery collection. The talk is free but donations will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the Mussel Ridge Historical Society.

PORTLAND — March of Dimes Maine Chapter’s premiere event, “March Back to School in Style,” 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, hosted by the Maine Mall. Participants are invited to register at marchforbabies.org to join the morning festivities in support of healthy babies. Proceeds benefit the March of Dimes.

SEARSPORT — Women’s Fellowship yard sale, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug, 13, in the parking lot of First Congregational Church. Baked goods and coffee will be available. Proceeds benefit the church steeple and stained glass window repair fund.

SOUTH BLUE HILL — Ladies Public Improvement Committee baked bean and casserole supper, 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Central Hall, 306 Falls Bridge Road. Proceeds benefit Central Hall. For information, call 374-5561.

WARREN — A luncheon fundraiser, Musicfest, is noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Old Mill Park. A community worship service with music by Lauren Armstrong and the WBC Praise Band begins at 10 a.m. followed by The Rusty Hinges at noon; Bill Tozier at 1 p.m., Northern Breeze at 2 p.m. and the Federated Four at 3 p.m. Proceeds benefit Bread for the Journey Food Pantry.
