ROCKLAND, Maine — Maine’s largest festival celebrating the state’s signature seafood is drawing to a close.

The 64th annual Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland comes to an end at 6 p.m. Sunday. The festival each year draws about 100,000 visitors who put away more than 20,000 pounds of lobster.

The event, which kicked off Wednesday, features music, a parade, crafts shows, U.S. Coast Guard station tours, cooking contests, children’s activities and road races.

For its final day Sunday, the festival is holding a popular race where competitors run across lobster crates that are floating in the water. Also on tap is a children’s codfish carry contest and a wreath ceremony for fishermen lost at sea.
