FREEHOLD, N.J. — Brandywine Little League of Wilmington, Del., exploded with six runs in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead en route to a 14-4 win over the Bangor East-West Junior League all stars in their first game in the 2011 Eastern Regional Saturday at Michael J. Tighe Park.

Brandywine, who is now 1-0, will play the winner of Sunday’s 7 p.m. game between North Wall Little League of Wall, N.J., and Quincy Youth Baseball Little League of Quincy, Mass.

Brandywine scored another run in the top of the third, but Bangor answered back with a run in the bottom of the inning, and three more in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 7-4.

But Brandywine countered Bangor’s attempt at a comeback with two runs in the fifth, and four more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Bangor is now 0-1 in the tournament and will play in an elimination game on Sunday at 10 a.m. against Burlington Little League of Burlington, Conn.
