CORINNA, Maine — The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a man who may have information about two burglaries committed late Friday or early Saturday.

Michael Hurd, 30, of Stetson is a person of interest in both break-ins, Sgt. William Birch said Saturday afternoon.

“We are asking that people not approach Hurd, but call 911 or 945-4636 if they see him,” he said.

Hurd is a white male with hazel eyes, brown hair and a full beard, Birch said. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

Deputies were called about 6:30 a.m. Saturday to the Robinson Mobil Plaza on Route 7 in Corinna to investigate a reported burglary, according to the Penobscot Sheriff’s Office. About 90 minutes later, a break-in was reported at an apartment above the Thompson Funeral Home, located a few blocks from the convenience store.

Birch said investigators believe the burglaries are related.

In addition to being wanted for questioning about the break-ins, Hurd is wanted in Somerset County for aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
