PORTSMOUTH, NH — A Strafford woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly providing law enforcement with a false account of sexual assault and for allegedly providing such officials with a false name.

Corey Krongard of 139 Ridge Farm Road, Strafford, was released on $2,000 personal recognizance and is facing up to two years in jail if she is found guilty of the alleged charges.

According to the Portsmouth Police Department, the first charge alleges that Krongard gave false information to a police officer with the purpose of inducing that officer to believe that she had been sexually assaulted by a male subject.

Krongard allegedly told police on June 4 that she was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance she met online and was with at The Page bar on Hanover Street.

Police reports indicate that Krongard reported the alleged assault to have happened in the bathroom of the bar, but then later reported the incident occurred in the parking garage.

“Our investigation reveals we don’t believe he did,” said Capt. Corey MacDonald of the alleged sexual assault.

The second charge alleges Krongard gave a false name, “Lindsay Conrad,” during the subsequent investigation into the alleged aggravated felonious sexual assault.

According to MacDonald, each of the charges are punishable by up to a year in jail as well as a $1,000 fine. Therefore, Krongard could be facing up to two years in jail and a $2,000 fine.

A court date has been scheduled for Krongard in Portsmouth District Court later this month.
