Improvement Committee to hold supper in South Blue Hill

SOUTH BLUE HILL, Maine —The Ladies Public Improvement Committee will hold a baked bean and casserole supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Central Hall, 306 Falls Bridge Road.

Proceeds will benefit Central Hall. For information, call 374-5561.

Program to examine Cezanne’s influence

CAMDEN, Maine — “Cezanne and American Artists,” the opening event in Quarry Hill’s Summer-Fall Adventures in Living Well Series, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Quarry Hill.

The Living Well Series, for adults age 55-plus, is free but registration is required by calling 230-6114. For information, visit www.quarryhill.org

Farmland preservation celebration free in Rockport

ROCKPORT, Maine — Two midcoast land trusts, Maine Farmland Trust and Maine Coast Heritage Trust, are partnering to celebrate Maine Farmland Preservation 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Erickson Fields Preserve on Route 90.

All members of the public are encouraged to attend. The event is free of charge.

Maine Farmland Trust is a statewide nonprofit organization working to permanently preserve and protect Maine’s agricultural lands, and to keep Maine’s farms farming. Maine Coast Heritage Trust conserves and stewards Maine’s coastal lands and islands for their scenic beauty, outdoor recreational opportunities, ecological diversity and working landscapes.
