BANGOR, Maine — An intoxicated local man who was yelling at people Thursday night at a downtown bar apparently trying to pick a fight, continued to be disruptive at a second bar and later was arrested after failing to heed police warnings.

Police were called downtown at 11:33 p.m. to deal with Daniel Mitchell, 45, of Bangor, and when they arrived they witnessed Mitchell causing a disturbance at the second bar, Sgt. Garry Higgins said Friday.

Police spoke to Mitchell, who agreed to calm down and leave the bar, but he returned shortly afterward, and that is when he was arrested, the sergeant said.

Mitchell was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to the Penobscot County Jail. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

Why didn’t the writer mention which bars he was frequenting? Isn’t that a pretty basic rule of journalism? Who, what, when, WHERE, why and how?

Those journalistic rules went out of style years ago.  I don’t think they teach the 5 w’s of journalism any more.

Probably true.  It’s all “new media” these days.   But I guess if actual print journalism is going away, and most everything is reduced to a brief soundbite or short paragraph suitable for the modern 20 second attention span it only stands to reason.   Sad IMHO.

Sadly true. You have only to look no farther than the bottom of this page to the inane “tweets” the BDN sees fit to list and clumsily label as “Reactions.” Why is the space even given up to this tripe?

Ahhh, journalistic experts.  Of course, you realize, that the online version of the paper is quite abbreviated from the print version.  But people are too cheap (I’m guilty) to simply buy a paper.  But hey, the posters here have to have someone to whine about.

    Good points.
I used to really like buying the printed edition, but then the price got too high to pay for it on a regular basis.

Sounds to me like he’s an obnoxious drunk; in transient to jail.

Still get the print edition, but read more of it on here than anywhere else … probably time to analyze that expenditure!
