CAPE ELIZABETH – Donald B. Weeks, 84, formerly of Killdeer Road, and recently residing in Saco, passed away July 30, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Weeks was born Oct. 6, 1926, in Solon, a son of Fred W. and Mildred Boyington Weeks.
He was educated in Brunswick schools and a graduate of Brunswick High School. He was also a graduate of the University of Maine, Orono. He married Barbara Oliver, in 1947. He served during World War II and the Korean War as a lieutenant in the Army and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He retired from Bath Iron Works in 1991 as a procurement manager. His previous employment included Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon and Rockwood in purchasing materials. After his retirement he worked part time as a park ranger for more than 10 years at Fort Williams Park, Cape Elizabeth.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 63 years, is a sister, Betty Weeks Grant of Hartland; a brother, Gerald Weeks of Skowhegan; two sons, Dale W. Weeks and his wife, Jeannine, of Cape Elizabeth, and Dennis O. Weeks and his wife, Carol, of Bellingham, Wash.; two grandsons, Todd and Tyler Weeks; and extended family.
Visiting hours will be held 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Aug. 5, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, with funeral services immediately after. A committal service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the new Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Donations may be made in his memory to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
