BANGOR — Penobscot Theater Company will conclude the summer youth theater series with the musical “Godspell” by Stephen Schwartz. More than 30 students from the region, ages 9-18, are rehearsing vocals, scene work and choreography to create a final performance of this historic, delightful and engaging musical.
Based on the parables from the biblical book of Matthew, this interpretation of “Godspell” has been set in a vintage French circus. Clowns, acrobats, ballerinas, lions and other characters will take the stage in this ensemble-created production. Join us under the big top to witness the spectacle.
Performers in the youth theater camp are: Ford Smiley, Sarah Larson, Noah Robinson, Elizabeth Fessenden, Serenity Littlejohn, Ella Stone, Molly Haggerty, Tessa Yardley and Sophia Hwang of Bangor; Rebekah Friedman and Brianna Demaso, Brewer; Rebekah Hawkins, Eddington; Brooke Jones, Glenburn; Nicole Petersen, Hermon; Noam Osher, Zivi Osher and Nathan Manaker, Orono; Kate Fogg, Holden; and Caitlin Hession, Parkman.
Senior camp members are: Raechel Segal and Conor Kenny, Bangor, Devon Tull, Eddington; Tien Misler, Winterport; Rachel Benway, Hermon; Callaghan Carter, Lauren Barkhouse, Morgan Barkhouse, Kate Lynne Whitney and Lainey Cohen, Ellsworth; Tyler Beardsley, Surry; Isabelle Simbari, Hancock; Will Martin, Milford; Hannah Holden, Hampden; Kalyn VanValkenburgh, Newburgh; and Mary Clark, Holden.
“Godspell” is directed and choreographed by Jasmine A. Ireland, with musical direction by Colin Graebert.
