EASTPORT, Maine – Raye’s Mustard is set to mark National Mustard Day on Saturday, Aug. 6, with a sale and a contest.

They’ve asked the public for help in creating a new tag line for their new sign in front of the historic stone mill.

Approximately 100 entries from Raye’s Mustard Facebook fans were narrowed to the top 10, and Raye’s Facebook friends and customers visiting the mill are able to vote on their favorite between now and Saturday. The author of the winning entry will receive a case of Raye’s Mustard flavors of their choice.

“It’s fun to see how many people are following us on Facebook,” said co-owner Karen Raye in a recent news release. “We started last year, and we’re already up to nearly 3,800 Facebook fans. Just since the Fourth of July, after posting a challenge on Facebook and putting the number of fans on our sign, similar to McDonald’s sign highlighting the number served, we’ve gained another 166 fans. It’s great to see the impact of social networking on a 111-year old small family business.”

They’re also marking down their merchandise on Saturday. For mustard aficionados, that means $3 off gallons, $2 off half-gallons, $1 off 9-ounce jars, 50 cents off 4-ounce jars, and 25 cents off 1.5-ounce jars. If you can’t attend, you can call, fax or place your orders online at rayesmustard.com.

To vote for your favorite tag line in the contest, visit the mill before 5 p.m. on Saturday, or go to the Raye’s Mustard page on Facebook.
