SEARSPORT — Many Searsport businesses, along with the town of Searsport, are supporting Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County’s plan to construct a Habitat Home in Searsport. Funds to support the building project come from cash and in-kind donations.
The town of Searsport has donated the property on which the house will be built. To support the building of the home, organizers need to raise $80,000 in cash.
Searsport’s Anglers Restaurant will donate to Habitat a portion of its sales on the last Wednesdays of August, September and October. On Wednesday, July 27, David Alling, Habitat board member, and his wife, Dorothy, Habitat volunteer, greeted lunch and dinner customers at Anglers and informed them of the Habitat for Humanity fundraiser. Customer reaction was enthusiastic, organizers said, with many giving a cash donation.
Habitat for Humanity Wednesdays at Anglers are Aug. 31, Sept. 28 and Oct. 26.
