Waldo County wins State Senior League championship

BANGOR — Waldo County scored five unanswered runs and Matt Palmer recorded 10 strikeouts in defeating Coastal 7-2 to win the State Senior League Championship at Mansfield Stadium Monday evening.
Waldo County will travel to West Deptford, N.J., for the Senior League Eastern Regional. The Waldo all-stars will play the winner of Friday’s game between Quincy, Mass. and New York on Saturday at 2 p.m.
After an opening 7-6 loss to Scarborough on Thursday, Waldo County (3-1) earned three victories in three days to win the title.
Palmer allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits through six innings for Waldo County.
Adam Higgins hit a double, two singles and drove in two runs. Garth Clements added a triple.
Anthony Bianco led 1-2 Coastal with two singles and an RBI.
