Come Boating! seeks participants for rowing regatta

BELFAST— Come Boating! will hold its 11th annual Rowing Regatta on Saturday, Aug. 20, in Belfast Harbor. There will be races for adults and youth, with awards given in multiple classes. Any type of rowed or paddled craft may participate.

The regatta will include a course of approximately 3 nautical miles and several short courses. Come Boating!’s 32-foot Cornish Gigs Belle Fast and Selkie will compete against gigs from other New England rowing organizations. Ocean shells, rowed skiffs, kayaks, canoes, and other small craft are encouraged to participate.

Registration for the regatta will be held at 10 a.m. at the Come Boating! tent near the Boat House at Steamboat Public Landing. The long-course races will begin at 11 a.m., followed by junior races and short courses.

Registration fees, which include a potluck meal donated by Come Boating! members, are $20, $5 children ages 13 to 18. All youth participants must wear life jackets.
