BANGOR — A Bangor man is currently incarcerated in Penobscot County Jail after being arrested and charged with robbing two other Bangor residents while brandishing a knife late Thursday night.
Jessi Cyr, 34, of Bangor has been charged with Class B felony robbery and is awaiting arraignment at Penobscot County Jail, where he will remain through the weekend after failing to make bail.
“A couple of guys came into the [Bangor] police department counter [Friday] morning to report that they’d been robbed around 11 p.m. the night before at their residence,” said Bangor Police Sgt. Paul Edwards.“
The two men, at least one of whom lived at the Fourteenth Street house, told K-9 Officer Rob Angelo that an acquaintance both men knew came to the house, was let in, and then assaulted one of the men.
“He apparently punched one of the guys in the stomach without any warning. That man fell to the ground and then this acquaintance pulled out a knife and demanded money from them both,” Edwards said.
The assailant, who both victims identified as Cyr, took an undetermined amount of money and drove off in a car.
Later on Friday, Angelo happened to be driving down Dillingham Street and encountered Cyr, who he identified from the victims’ descriptions. Angelo arrested him, but was unable to collect any evidence on Cyr’s person at the time of the arrest.
