NEWPORT, Maine — A local man with a history of domestic violence offenses is back in jail for the same charge, police said Friday.

Newport police Lt. Randy Wing went to the Gilman Trailer Park around 8 a.m Friday, reportedly discovered that Philip Dumont, 30, of Newport had thrown his girlfriend out the door and subsequently arrested him and took him to jail, according to Chief Leonard Macdaid.

“She had marks on her back,” Macdaid said. “Neighbors had witnessed the whole thing.”

Dumont was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained on Friday afternoon.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, where she remained on Friday.

Dumont’s bail has been set at $500. (Ryan McLaughlin, BDN)
