Auditions to be held at Center Theatre

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — ”Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will open Sept. 30, at Center Theatre.

Actors and singers of all ages are encouraged to audition from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Center Theatre.

Relay for Life Golf Tournament to be held in Charleston

CHARLESTON, Maine — WhiteTail Golf Course owners Scott and Shari Duthie will host their fifth Relay for Life Golf Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Previous tournaments have raised more than $17,000. Proceeds from this year’s event will support Mike Trafton’s Relay For Life team. Mike is Shari’s brother and a cancer survivor.

The tournament will begin with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at WhiteTail, with teams of four playing a scramble format.

The $30 cost includes lunch and hole sponsorships are $50. Donations can be made in honor of or in memory of someone with cancer, and gift certificates or merchandise for prizes are welcome as are any and all donations.

Milo Garden Club to hold Summer Fair

MILO, Maine — The Milo Garden Club will hold its Summer Fair 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Milo Elementary School.

Admission is free for this event, which offers crafts, plants, perennials, vegetables, food for sale, raffle items, door prizes and a silent auction. A luncheon also is available by donation and a talk and demonstration on garden color and aroma therapy will be offered.

Brown and Sweetgrass Workship in Orono

ORONO, Maine — Penobscot Nation basket maker Ruth Attean Johnson will hold free Brown Ash & Sweetgrass Bookmark Workshops for children 10-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Aug. 12, at the University of Maine’s Hudson Museum in the Collins Center for the Arts.

Learn how to make a brown ash and sweet grass bookmark, the first forms taught to those starting out in basket making. Reservations for children ages 6-12 for the workshop can be made by calling 581-1904 or visit

Dexter Historical Society Night At the Museum

DEXTER, Maine — The Dexter Historical Society and high school Key Club will present “A Night At The Museum” from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at the Grist Mill Museum and Carr Schoolhouse, off Route 7 in the center of town.

Public supper at planned Holden Congregational Church

HOLDEN, Maine — The Holden Congregational Church will hold a public supper with settings at 5 and 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at 9 Rider Bluff.

The menu includes baked beans, casseroles, salads, pies and beverages. The price is $7 for adults and $4 for children.
