We have witnessed the most dramatic off-season in the history of college hockey.
Penn State has received a gift of $88 million and will have varsity hockey beginning in 2012-2013.
The following year (2013-14), Penn State will be joined in the Big Ten hockey conference by WCHA members Minnesota and Wisconsin and CCHA members Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan.
That prompted the formation of another new league (National Collegiate Hockey Conference) featuring WCHA heavyweights North Dakota, Minnesota-Duluth, Colorado College and Denver along with WCHA newcomer Nebraska-Omaha and CCHA power Miami (Ohio).
In addition, Northern Michigan is leaving the CCHA for the WCHA.
CCHA team Notre Dame, a Frozen Four team twice over the last three seasons, is reportedly deciding between Hockey East and the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Would you like to see Notre Dame join Hockey East? Should Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna actively pursue them even if it means having an odd number of teams (11)?
I look forward to reading your comments. Thanks for taking time out to respond.
