GUILFORD, Maine — Troy Violette, son of Paul and Charlotte Violette of Wellington, has been awarded a full scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., to pursue a degree in nuclear engineering. The scholarship is awarded by the Navy ROTC and carries an approximate value of $250,000.

“Troy comes from a family that believes in excellence and has a strong tradition of service to our country,” said Paul Stearns, superintendent of SAD 4. “I am very proud of Troy’s achievements and the work of the faculty and staff in supporting him along the way.”

Violette graduated with the Class of 2011 from Piscataquis Community High School as the salutatorian. He will be commissioned as a Naval Officer upon graduating from RPI.
